The Danish smiley-scheme is administered by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and has been popular with Danes since 2008, helping them to make an informed choice about which food supplier to use. Four different smileys signal how well the enterprise does comply with food regulations and are issued on the basis of un-announced inspections.
